The 993 Turbo is where the air-cooled story ends and, arguably, peaks. The first twin-turbo 911, the first turbo with four-wheel drive, 408 horsepower in 1995, and hollow-spoke wheels that still look modern thirty years on. Everything after it was water-cooled.

Dark blue, which suits it — these look faintly sinister in the right light and that is part of the appeal.

Values have climbed steadily for a decade and the people who own them are not selling. We filmed this one early on a Sunday down by the water. Ask me about that morning.
